Sherman Allgood, 88, widow of William G. Allgood, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at Sumter Health and Rehab. Born in Stella, Neb., she was a daughter of the late Lee Sherman and the late Mary Stafford Sherman. Mrs. Allgood was a member of Plaza Church of Christ. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Mary and Herbert Buckner of Sumter, Marie and Larry Goings of Auburn, Neb., Susan and Don Young of Horatio and David and Susan Allgood of Marion, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Sherman, Wilbur Sherman and Richard Sherman; and a sister, Hallie Nelson. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Plaza Church of Christ with Minister Gary Hargrove officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Elders and Deacons of Plaza Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of her granddaughter, Balinda Phillips, 10 Philadelphia Way. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the care, love and concern shown to our mother by the staff of Hospice of Tri-County and Sumter Health and Rehab.
