| HIST | MARY LOU M. ACHZIGER Posted Sunday, May 13, 2018 6:00 am Mary Lou McLean Achziger, 82, wife of Harvey Walter Achziger Sr., passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018 at her home. Born on June 23, 1935, in Charlotte, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Harold Jack McLean Sr. and Mary Roberts McLean. She retired from McLean Marine Inc. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband of 56 years; two children, Mary Katherine "Kaye" Achziger and Harvey Walter Achziger Jr (Tammy); and one granddaughter, McLean Marie Achziger, all of Sumter. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Dan Barber officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. The family would like to express special thanks to her dear friend and caregiver, Eloise Harvin. Memorials can be made to Amedisys Hospice Care, 198 E. Wesmark Blvd., Suite 2, Sumter, SC 29150. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements. of Sumter, South Carolina of 419 Haynsworth St. A Dalzell man injured Saturday in a North Guignard Drive motorcycle wreck that killed his passenger was upgraded to stable condition Monday, according to his family. • Bobby Langley, 54, of 2845 Watermark Drive, was still in the intensive care unit at Columbia’s Palmetto Health Richland on Monday. • Karen Gregory, 50, of the same address, who was riding on the 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle with Langley, died about 10:40 p.m. Saturday from injuries suffered in the wreck. • According to reports, 72-year-old Mary Lou Achziger, of 419 Haynsworth St., was attempting to exit the parking lot of the Sunoco A-Plus gas station, 440 N. Guignard Drive, onto the road in her 2001 Ford Expedition about 1:30 p.m. when she struck the motorcycle, which was traveling south. • Witnesses said neither Langley nor Gregory was wearing a helmet. • Achzier has been charged with failure to yield right-of-way.
