Griffith, died on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at the National Healthcare Center. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie Verdell Jones and Earline Brown Jones. Mrs. Griffith was a lifelong member of Concord Presbyterian Church. She was a retired manager of Sunbeam Bakeries. Surviving are one son, James W. (Buddy) Griffith and wife, Sally, of Sumter; one daughter, Brenda Iris Garcia and husband, David, of Antioch, California; one brother, Malcolm Jones of Sumter; three sisters, Dorine Warth of Summerton, Jessie Mae Tuten of Hampton and Aggie Mills and husband, Felton, of Burlington, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three daughters, Patsy Dority, Jonice Powell and Danni Alderman; two sisters, Lois Logan and Janice Pendegraph; three brothers, Aubrey Jones, John Jones and Verdell Jones. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Concord Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Al Sims officiating. Pallbearers will be Mitchell Griffith, Jacob Tedder, Jimmy Miles, Andrew Miles, Chris Dority, Whitt Dority and Bobby Griffith. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Mayes DuBose and the National Healthcare staff for the excellent care and love they gave Jack for these last seven years. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Caris Hospice, 105 E. Wesmark Blvd., Suite 4, Sumter, SC 29150.
