Barefoot, Sr., 84, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, with inurnment in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pine Ridge Senior Center, 2757 Fish Hatchery Road, West Columbia, SC 29172. Mr. Barefoot was born September 12, 1925, in Lexington County and passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2010. He was the son of the late George Clifton and Edna Pylant Barefoot. Mr. Barefoot served in the United States Army during World War II. He loved the outdoors, camping and fishing. Mr. Barefoot is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Bettie Meetze Barefoot of West Columbia; son, Thomas C. Barefoot, Jr. of Morgantown, WV; daughters, Wanda Barefoot Shelby and Linda Barefoot Boone, both of West Columbia; sons, Melvin Douglas Barefoot, Sr. and Walter Eugene 'Billy' Barefoot, both of West Columbia; brother, Percy W. Barefoot, Sr. of Swansea; sister, Hazel Pechon of Cayce; brothers, Charles David 'Rat' Barefoot of Atlanta, GA, and Clayton F. 'Skip' Barefoot of West Columbia; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
