BOYKIN - Brittney Ann Smith and Gregory Jarrett Hawkins were united in marriage at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at Swift Creek Baptist Church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dewayne Mark Smith, and the granddaughter of James Baxter Pierson Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Knight Dubois, and Mrs. Luther William Smith Sr. and the late Mr. Smith, all of Sumter. She graduated from Laurence Manning Academy. She is employed by Tuomey Healthcare System, Sumter, as a registered nurse. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gregory Hawkins and Dr. Lynn Jarrett Hawkins, and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. John James Hawkins, Marshall Earl Jarrett and the late Mrs. Jarrett, all of Sumter. He graduated from Lakewood High School. He is employed by the Sumter County Sheriff's Office. Michael Ray Lowder officiated at the ceremony. Music was provided by Mrs. Kipper Edens Ackerman, vocalist and harpist; Mrs. Lauren C. Decker, violinist; and Clink McKellar, vocalist and guitarist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an A-line gown by Oleg Cassini featuring a sweetheart neckline and a chapel-length train. She carried a round hand-tied bouquet of champagne and chocolate love knots protea, cherry Brandy roses, Shocking Versilia roses, red Charlotte roses, yellow alstromeria, orange tulips and solidago. Melissa Michelle Stroud served as maid of honor. Mrs. Stacie Newman Bryant and Mrs. Meagan Knopf Trezza served as matrons of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Stephanie Reynolds Conyers, Kristen Summer Pierson, Emma Lee Smith and Mrs. Sarah McLeod Weathersbee. The bridegroom's father served as best man. Groomsmen were Charles Scott Bonner, Ryan Gerald Conyers, Joseph Ryan Rembert, Bryan Michael Rulong, Mark Heath Smith and Steven Blake Weathersbee. Also participating was Kathryn Danielle Plowden Windham. The bride's parents held the reception at Rosa Lee's Cottage, Boykin. The bridegroom's parents held the rehearsal party at Rosa Lee's Cottage.
