"Tunnie" Callen, died Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Scarborough Norris Richardson and Mary Lee Lackey Burke Richardson. Mrs. Callen was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Lynchburg. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxillary and a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include four children, Monte H. Callen Jr. (Norma) of Charleston, Gregg N. Callen of Summerton, Becky Thomas (David) of Lynchburg and Jeff Callen (Donna) of Lynchburg; and seven grandchildren, Douglas Callen, David Callen, Monica Thomas, Chelsea Thomas, Trey Thomas, Zane Callen and Kristin Callen. She was preceded in death by a sister, Nelouise Hastings of Rockland, Maine. A graveside service will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Robert Griggs officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1000 Pleasant Grove Road, Lynchburg, SC 29080. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
