| HIST | D. Michael Wadford Jr. David Michael Wadford Jr., 26, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011. Born Feb. 2, 1985, in Sumter, he was a son of David Michael Wadford Sr. and Barbara Phillips Floyd. He was employed by the City of Sumter. Michael loved the outdoors and wildlife. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting pool, and was an avid South Carolina Gamecocks fan. Survivors besides his mother and father include his paternal grandmother, Barbara G. Wadford of Sumter; maternal grandmother, Evelyn Phillips of Sumter; stepmother, Robin Wadford of Sumter; stepfather, Tony Floyd of Sumter; one brother, Wesley Allen Phillips of Sumter; one stepbrother, Ryan Bullard of Korea; one stepsister, Raven Lyn Hodge of Sumter; two uncles, the Rev. Bennie Wadford (Linda) and Joe Wadford (Linda), both of Camden; two aunts, Sheron Schmitt (Jerry) and Karen Wadford, both of Sumter; one nephew, Tyler Bullard; and a number of cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Shuford Wadford; maternal grandfather, Robert "Bob" Phillips; paternal great-grandparents, Joe and Elizabeth Googe; and uncle, Doug Wadford. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Billy Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carey Turner, Ash McRae, Russell Shiar, Rudy Singleton III, Justin Brogdon and Shane Walton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Three Rivers Behavioral Health, Main Campus, 2900 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia, SC 29169.
