| HIST | RICHARD B. GRIFFIN Posted Wednesday, March 15, 2017 6:00 am Richard Bryan Griffin, 91, widower of Ruth Johnson Griffin, died on Monday, March 13, 2017, at The Village at Summerville. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Richard Bryan and Allee Marie Jones Griffin Sr. Mr. Griffin was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He was a U S. Navy veteran of World War II and retired from DuPont. He was a former member of the Sumter Lions Club. Surviving are two daughters, Pamela G. Summers of Columbia, and Elizabeth G. Moore, of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, Bryan Eric Summers (Theresa), Jason McConnell Summers (Meg), Paul Kendall Moore Jr. and Elizabeth Collin Moore Rumph (David); four great-grandchildren, Anna Louise Summers, Margaret Elizabeth Summers, Catherine Caldwell Summers, and Luke Goodman Summers. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Grace Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Williams officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday at the home, 112 Burns Drive. Memorials may be made to Crosswell Home for Children, 11 Crosswell Drive, Sumter, SC 29150. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at The Village at Summerville, to Vickie Brown and Hospice of Charleston, and also to Loretta Bosier for their loving care and compassion.
