OWENS SANDERS Owens Sanders, 53, widower of Barbara Carolina Sanders, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at Hopewell Health Care Center. He was born on July 7, 1950, in Sumter County. He was a son of Louise Dinkins Sanders and the late Dea James Sanders. Mr. Sanders attended the public schools of Sumter County, and was a 1969 graduate of Ebenezer High School. He accepted Christ in his life at an early age at Rafting Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He served on the Usher's Ministry and was a member of the adult choir. Survivors in addition to his mother include his son, James Carolina of Newark, N.J.; ;three brothers, Tom (Lurine) Sanders, Willie (Nancy) Sanders, Edgar (Emily) Sanders, all of Rembert; six sisters, Fannie Dennis of Rembert, Mary Battle of Washington, Mamie Dinkins of Capital Heights, Md., Louise (Samuel) Graham of Sumter, Alberta (Johnny) Williams of Laurelton, N.Y., Steral (John) Singleton of Rembert; three sisters-in-law, Sallie Mae Sanders, Ethel Sanders and Emma Sanders all of Rembert; six aunts and five uncles. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, James, John and George Sanders. The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. today at Rafting Creek Baptist Church in Rembert. The Rev. Dr. Charles H. Davis, pastor, will officiate, assisted by the Revs. Willie Dennis and Samuel McLean, Evangelist Marie Sanders and the Rev. John F. Kennedy. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The funeral processsion will leave from the home of his mother, Louise Sanders of 5890 T.B. Wright Road, Rembert, at 1:45 p.m. The family will also receive friends there.
