CARROLL Posted Tuesday, November 10, 2020 6:00 am MANNING - Wiley S. Carroll, 71, husband of Lynda Jane Baker Carroll, died on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020, at the home of his daughter. Born on June 21, 1949, in North Carolina, he was a son of the late Lonnie Stanley and Ida Kitchens and was reared by the late James Fant Carroll and Elise Carroll. He retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. He was a veteran of Operation Desert Storm and was a Bronze Star recipient. He was later employed as an assistant manager of Advance Auto Parts and retired from Sumter Dialysis. He was a member of the American Legion and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife of 47 years; two children, James Fant Carroll (Amy) of Manning and Sarah Lynn Peyton (Doug) of Sumter; six grandchildren, Emery Carroll, Devin Patrick, Alyssa Patrick, Dalton Patrick, Kameron Peyton and Dylan Peyton; and siblings, Robert "Bobby" Francis Arnold, Cissy Jeanette Boynton (Jerome), Sharon Rose Cowden and Henry Harley Arnold (Rebecca), all of Aiken, Marion Elizabeth Salmon of Louisville, Kentucky, and Jack Franklin Arnold of Redboling, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Jean Kelley of Wadesboro, North Carolina. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Al Sims officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Hanson, Dylan Peyton, Elwood Stone, Glenn Stone, Jody Stone and Ben Busques. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Doug and Sarah Peyton, 1595 U.S. 521 South. Memorials may be made to Bethesda Church of God, 2730 Broad St., Sumter, SC 29150. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements. [1] | |
