Born in Bishopville, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur Carnes Tisdale and Katherine S. Tucker Tisdale. Mrs. Fender was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, James E. Fender of Sumter; two daughters, Glenda F. Johnson and Mary E. Hardee, both of Sumter; a sister, Martha T. Ragan of Durham, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Carnes Tisdale Jr. Graveside services will be held at noon Thursday in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Harold Kirkland officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Mary Hardee, 1040 Golfcrest Road. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
