| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina PHILLIP LANU MIXON Posted Saturday, October 3, 2020 6:00 am Phillip Lanu Mixon, husband of Linda Jones Mixon, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born on Nov. 23, 1950, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Harry M. and Travis J. Phillips Mixon. Phillip was a U.S. Army veteran and former owner of the 521 Club and Nashville Station. He also worked at Exide Battery. He was an avid fisherman and loved to duck hunt and spend time in the woods. His daughter and grandsons were his heart strings and he never wanted them to be far from his sight. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind a daughter, Remona Lee Veltre (Tony); two grandchildren, Alexander Corley and Quinn Marlor; two brothers, Michael Mixon and Gary Mixon (Robin); one sister, Sandy Treaster (Stan); one sister-in-law, Coni Blanton; one brother-in-law, Jim Jones (Debra); 10 nieces; 11 nephews; 12 great-nieces; and 11 great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Gala J. Connor and Terry G. "Sissie" Mixon; a brother, Harry "Hal" Mixon; sister-in-law, Alice Mixon; mother-in-law, Amanda L. Smith; fathers-in-law, Charles Jones and Jim Smith; brother-in-law, Larry T. Jones; and three nephews, Wayne Ardis, Brandon Connor and Trey Mixon. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Allen Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Sumter SPCA, 1140 S.
