| HIST | MARY T. LACKEY Mary Tindal Lackey, 87, widow of Winfred B. Lackey, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Horry County, she was a daughter of the late J. Willard and Florrie Lawrimore Tindal. Mrs. Lackey was a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for more than 60 years. She was retired from The Item. Survivors include one son, Steven Philip Lackey of Sumter; one daughter, Rachel Lackey (the Rev. Dr. Jim Strickland) of Bryson City, N.C.; two nieces, Patti Moody of Georgetown and Clarice Johnson of Texas; and one nephew, Terry McMullian of Maryland. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dr. Clay Smith, Phil Ross and Dr. Jim Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bill Shuler, Tim Wilson, Robert Hall, Jock Hendrix, Julian Hynes and Don Mathis. Honorary pallbearers will be Aubrey Hatfield and Joe Kirven. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alice Drive Baptist Church Building Fund, 1305 Loring Mill Road, Sumter, SC 29150.
