Galloway Sr., 92, widower of Betty Fickling Galloway, died Monday, March 24, 2025, at his home. Born July 8, 1932, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Henry Lee Galloway and the late Tessie Lorie Hodge Galloway. Mr. Galloway was a long-time member of Harmony Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He retired from Sumter Transport Company. Survivors include four sons, Bobby Galloway (Kim), Frank Galloway (Jennie), Dale Galloway (Cathy) and Ron “Jeff” Galloway (Lisa); nine grandchildren, Clay Galloway (Laurel), Christopher Galloway (Emily Ann); Brett Galloway, Carson Galloway, Dale “Dewey” Galloway Jr. (Jessica), Charles “Chuck” Galloway (Tiffany), Amanda DeCosta (Nick), Lauren Shivers and Cameron Shivers; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Delores Heath; and a number of number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lauren Galloway; three brothers, Harry Galloway, Jack Galloway and Harold Galloway; and three sisters, Juanita Gaddy, Ruth Trimnal and Linda McDaniel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025, in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel officiated by the Rev. Lee Brown. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Clay Galloway, Christopher Galloway, Dale “Dewey” Galloway Jr., Charles “Chuck” Galloway, Brett Galloway and Carson Galloway. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Bolinger, Jeff Lingefelt and Hugh Jackson. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Prisma Health Hospice, and Michelle Gadson for the compassionate care they provided.
