BRENDA ROUNTREE JACKSON Posted Friday, November 12, 2021 6:00 am COLUMBIA - Brenda Rountree Jackson, of Columbia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021, surrounded by her family. Originally from Barnwell, Brenda was a proud graduate of Barnwell High School and Winthrop College. She earned her master's degree in education and taught second and third graders as well as special education students in the public school system for more than 25 years. Brenda loved spending time with her family and friends and was loved and admired by many. Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband of 52 years, Richard Furman Jackson III; her daughters, Jennifer (Michael) Deason and Karen (Bryan) Cress; five grandchildren, Josiah and Emma Deason and Sarah, Bryson and Brayden Cress; her sister, Priscilla Heiting; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Brenda was predeceased by her parents, I.W. and Sarah Rountree; and her brother, I.W. "Ike" Rountree Jr. Visitation for Brenda Jackson will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at Dunbar Funeral Home in Irmo. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Union United Methodist Church in Irmo with interment following at Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the Joy Class Mission Projects at Union United Methodist Church. Memories may be shared at www.dunbarfunerals.com. She was a longtime member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Brenda was also a member of Union United Methodist Church where she was very involved with the Joy Sunday School Class and Heritage Circle. Brenda loved spending time with her family and friends and was loved and admired by many. Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband of 52 years, Richard Furman Jackson, III, her daughters Jennifer (Michael) Deason and Karen (Bryan) Cress, 5 grandchildren: Josiah Michael and Emma Grace Deason and Sarah McKenzie, Bryson Hunter, and Brayden Parker Cress, her sister Priscilla Heiting, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
