Tony Benenhaley died at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital early Friday, Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker said. The incident occurred at 12:10 a.m. Next of kin has been notified, and an autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday morning at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Wanda Benenhaley Weatherly. Tony was a good husband and loving father. He was dedicated to family and a loyal friend. Surviving are his wife of Lexington; a daughter, Aurora Benenhaley and her mother, Jennifer Sanders; an aunt, Barbara Benenhaley; and a sister, Nikki Dively (Brian). Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday in Long Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Dallery officiating. For family and friends unable to attend in person, services will be livestreamed under his obituary at www.sumterfunerals.com. The family will receive friends following the service.
