| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina JAMES CRAIG BOOTH Posted Thursday, April 20, 2017 6:00 am James Craig Booth, beloved husband of 43 years to Bobbie Sue Booth, died on Monday, April 17, 2017. Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of the late James M. Booth and Mary Elizabeth Strange Booth. Craig was a member and served as a deacon at Hickory Road Baptist Church. He served for over 20 years as an Auxiliary Officer with the Sumter County Sheriffs Department, where he retired as a Captain. He also retired from the State School Bus Maintenance Department after 28 years of service. Craig along with his wife Bobbie served as primary caregivers to their mothers prior to their deaths. He loved his family and will be remembered as a very loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, April Ann McGill and her husband, Marvin, of Sumter and Tracy Angelique Booth and Corey Antonio Spann of Camden; two brothers, Kevin Booth and his wife, Terry, and Tony Spears and his wife, Stacey, all of Sumter; one sister, Vivian Lorraine Hastings of Alexandria, Virginia; and six grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Phillip Mobley. A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday at Hickory Road Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11 a.m. until noon Saturday at the church.
