Posted Tuesday, December 3, 2019 6:00 am Herbert June Sr., 76, affectionately called "Lloyd," died on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born on Nov. 6, 1943, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Lem and Odessa Jones June. Herbert received his formal education through the public schools of Sumter County. He held numerous jobs throughout his life, including the Frozen Locker, the Pigeon Plant, Sumter School District 17, and he loved cutting grass in the neighborhood and his church. He leaves to cherish his memories: his sons, Philip (Mildred), Herbert (Christine) and George June Sr.; three grandsons he raised in the home, Shaheem, Capone and George Jr.; three sisters, Albertha Briggs, Rovenia Dinkins and Betty Philips; two brothers, Walton June and Eric June; three stepsisters, Naomi Washington, Jean Harriot and Sandra Wright; three sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a special cousin, David Jackson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 40 Rast St., Sumter. Homegoing celebration will be held at noon on Wednesday at New Hope Ministries, 95 Community St., Sumter, with Pastor Russell Rogers, eulogist. The remains will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. The funeral procession will leave at 11:20 a.m. from the home.
