| HIST | of Lynchburg, South Carolina CHARLES RONALD PLAYER Posted Friday, January 7, 2022 6:00 am LYNCHBURG - Charles Ronald "Ronnie" Player, 72, died on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, following injuries he received in an automobile accident. Born on April 19, 1949, in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late James Guy Player Sr. and Louise Fincher Player. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he served as young adult Sunday school teacher. He also served as a junior deacon and choir member. Most of his career was in chemical maintenance in Augusta, Georgia. He leaves to cherish his memory: his brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Mary Player of Lynchburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Player of Augusta and J.D. Player of Lynchburg. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1000 Pleasant Grove Road, Lynchburg, with the Rev. James Melton and the Rev. Jim Ridenhour officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Guy Player, Patrick Player, Marion Huggins, Austin Huggins, Tyler Coker and Howard Goldman. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and other times at the home of Bobby and Mary Player, 1465 Trinity Road, Lynchburg. Memorials may be sent to Bobby Player, 1465 Trinity Road, Lynchburg, SC 29080 to help with funeral expenses.
