The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Walter Dean Phillips and Mrs. Janet Lambert Tanner and the late Mr. William Joseph Tanner Sr., all of Sumter. She graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Communications in May of 2016. She is employed as the marketing manager at Sumter Packaging Corp. The bridegroom-elect is the grandson of Ms. Tania Love Leon of Charlotte, North Carolina, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bundy McDuffie Jr. of Summerton and Mr. James Griswold Manville and the late Mrs. Helen Scott Manville of Little Rock, Arkansas. He graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences in May of 2016 and plans to graduate with a Master of Science in Athletic Leadership in May of 2018. He is a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach for Clemson University Football. The wedding is planned for Jan. 20, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church in Sumter. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Joseph Tanner Jr. and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dean Phillips and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Joseph Tanner Sr., all of Sumter. She graduated in May 2016 from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Communications. She is employed by Sumter Packaging as a marketing associate. He is employed as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for Duke University Football. The Rev. Nicholas Cheek, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. Anna Owens-Sweeney of Lake Fellow in Parish Ministry at Second Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, officiated. Music was provided by Mr. William Scobee and Mr. Ryan Peters. Escorted by her father, the bride wore a Karen Willis Holmes Sophie gown of tulle and organza overlay featuring a V-neckline and embellished with embroidered detail on the bodice and a full-circle skirt finished with a beaded belt. She carried a cascading bouquet of white and pink delicate garden roses with hints of blue and lavender, eucalyptus and other greenery, wrapped in cream velvet ribbon. Mary Elizabeth Edmunds served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Stephanie Lynn Hill, Erin Christin Littlepage, Mary Francis Newman, Brittani Gail Tanner and Sera Wood Tanner. Elizabeth Gray Edmunds served as flower girl. Best men were Scott Ramsey McDuffie and Parker Bradley McDuffie. Groomsmen were Keith Taylor Harvin Jr., William Anthony Paruta, Adam Lyle Smotherman, Joseph Cameron Tanner and Samuel Grayson Tanner. Bennett William Edmunds served as ring bearer.
