Born Jan. 9, 1953, in Sumter, he was a son of the late George Edward Cantlon Sr. and the late Frances Marion Bateman Cantlon. He was formerly the owner of Fellowship Construction Company. He was a member of Smithville Pentecostal Church. Survivors include two children, Angela Cantlon Farris (James) and George E. Cantlon III; grandchildren, Logan Lafountain, Chazen Hasbrook, Britton Spencer, George Cantlon IV, Georgia Shelby Cantlon, Brandon Hodge and Zachary Levendoski; 15 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Sharon Christmas (J.M.), Connie Davis and Rhonda Bowman (Roy). He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Karla Cantlon, and a brother, Robert Thornal Cantlon. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Morris officiating. Burial will be in the Paxville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Smithville Pentecostal Church c/o Jimmy Baker, 225 Pinecrest Drive, Sumter, SC 29153.
