| HIST | NANCY KNEESHAW BAAK Posted Thursday, April 9, 2020 6:00 am Nancy Kneeshaw Baak, age 82, beloved wife of 58 years to the late Jerome Albert Baak, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020, in her home surrounded by her children. Born on Dec. 16, 1937, in Santa Monica, California, she was a daughter of the late Earlington L. Kneeshaw and Marion Van Horn. Nancy was a devoted military wife and an avid volunteer in the community, supporting Sumter Volunteers Inc. to include the My Community and Me program. She had a passion for baking and was the chief cookie baker for the Shower Shaw with Cookies Drive, among other programs, and was a former recipient of the Edith Myers Volunteer Award for her many contributions. She was a member of the Saint Anne's Women's Guild and she served in various other capacities of the church. Nancy was a faithful member of St. Anne Catholic Church for many years. She will be remembered as a very loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by two sons, David J. Baak and his wife, Mary Ann, of Windsor, Colorado, and James E. Baak and his wife, Huda, of Martinez, California; two daughters, Mary E. Baak-Knapp and her husband, Russ, of El Dorado Hills, California, and Catherine Baak McFaddin and her husband, Randy, of Sumter; one brother, Thomas Kneeshaw of Georgia; five grandchildren, Bryan McDaniel, Samantha Baak, Jonathan Baak, Taylor McFaddin and Michaela Baak; and three great-grandchildren. A private graveside interment will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. A public memorial mass will be held at a later date. Due to COVID-19 the family will not be receiving guests or food. In lieu of food or flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or The Shriner's Hospital, 950 W.
