  HIST	Re: Lance, John Henry By genealogy.com user May 12, 1999 at 10:40:37 In reply to: Lance, John Henry Leaton Clark 5/09/99 This John "Henry" Lance and wife Jane Jones Lance came from near Ashville N.C. to Union County Georgia.John "Henry" Lance and his brother Samuel Lance of Union County Ga. are supposed to be children of John Lance and Sarah Ann Murray.Samuel Lance was made guardian of the children of John "Henry" Lance,thus the younger children moved to Choestoe (southern Union County) to live with their Uncle Samuel Lance.Not long after, Samuel Lance took off with another woman and two of his slaves leaving his wife Rebecca alone to raise their children and the children of his deceased brother J. Henry Lance.A letter written by Rebecca Lance to a Samuel Lance Sr. is still existant today.This letter is asking the whereabouts of her husband Samuel and stating that he left with another woman and was in route to get his inheritance and flee to Texas.Best Wishes,Your family history friend,Lisa Keown Lentz  [2]
