Mills MAYESVILLE -- Iris Singleton Mills, 88, widow of James Henley "Muddy" Mills, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at her home. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late William Joseph and Pauline Kvaternik Singleton. Mrs. Mills was a member of Mayesville Presbyterian Church and was a retired secretary with Helena Chemical Co. Surviving are two daughters, Paula Mills McDaniel (Bob) of Wellford and Susan Mills Tinsley (David) of Sumter; one son, James Henley Mills (Jane) of Mayesville; two brothers, Frank Singleton of Chapin and Bob Singleton of Florida; one stepbrother; one half-brother, E.M. Watt; four stepsisters; one half-sister, Tona Chandler, all of Sumter; three granddaughters, Elizabeth White, Theresa Clardy and Christy Wright; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, William "Bill" J. Singleton; one stepbrother; and four stepsisters. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Mayesville Black River Cemetery with the Rev. Brian Peake and the Rev. Pat Chandler officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the home, 21 W. Sumter St., Mayesville. Memorials may be made to the Mayesville Black River Cemetery, P.O. Box 144, Mayesville, SC 29104, or to Tuomey Hospice, 500 Pinewood Road, Suite 2, Sumter, SC 29154.
