| HIST | at death- she had 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren Katherine R. Weatherly Katherine Ross Weatherly, 94, widow of Eddie C. Weatherly Jr., died Sunday, June 24, 2012, at a local nursing center. Born in Walterboro, she was a daughter of the late David Jefferson Ross Sr. and Frances Walker Ross. Mrs. Weatherly was a charter member of First Church of God, where she served as a former organist and pianist for more than 50 years. She also served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Iris Chapter No. 149 and was a former member of the Sumter Piano Teacher’s Association. Surviving are two daughters, Frances W. Jackson and husband, William, of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Gayle W. High of Spartanburg; a brother, Eugene W. Ross of Sumter; a sister, Mary Sue Shealy of Sumter; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jefferson Ross, Theo Ross and Jack Ross. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Clanton officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. Pallbearers will be Raymond Walker, Jay Shealy, Steve Shealy, Ricky Nunnery, David B. Ross and Theo Ross Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Alice Amerson Sunday School class. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
