He lived in the Privateer section of Sumter County on “Snow Hill” near Bethel Baptist Church. He trained his sons and son-in-law to be section masters. It is said that he took his great grandson J. B. Bagnal, and his youngest granddaughter, Sallie Nettles (Mrs. Edwin Harrell) to ride on a “crank car”-- a ride they never forgot. He is said to have died in 1892 at the age of 82. [3, 4] |
