MCLEOD Posted Friday, August 11, 2017 6:00 am Richard Delbert McLeod, 95, husband of the late Elizabeth Rosine Campbell McLeod, died on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, at the Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia. Born on Dec. 28, 1921, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Iley Schvaneveldt McLeod and Hattie Leila Poole McLeod. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, where he served in the 83rd Infantry Division, 329th Infantry Regiment, from 1942 to 1946. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, Purple Heart, Bronze Star, five Battle Stars and other WWII medals. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by four sons, Charles M. McLeod (Mary Jane) and William D. McLeod (Lois), both of Sumter, Jerry S. McLeod (Janet) of Suwanee, Georgia, and R. Darryl McLeod of Smithville, Missouri; six daughters, Ann McLeod of Wedgefield, Brenda Rogers (Billy) of Lumberton, North Carolina, Janet Feagin (Ronnie) of Summerville, Debra Kay Burton of Meridian, Idaho, Susie Parker (Ricky) of Gilbert and Cindy Pack (Robbie) of Alcolu; two brothers, Richard F. McLeod and William B. McLeod, both of Sumter; 26 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy McLeod and Tommy McLeod; two brothers, Robert McLeod and Marvin McLeod; and five sisters, Ilene Barkley, Mabel McLeod, Maggie Lee Geddings, Dollie Nunnery and Pearline McLeod. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1770 U.S. 15 South, with Bishop Randy Rhoades officiating. Burial will follow at Poole Cemetery on Nazarene Church Road. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at Stephens Funeral Home. Stephens Funeral Home & Crematory, 304 N.
