He became a priest in 1933 and served his entire ministry in the Diocese of South Carolina. He was rector or priest in charge of churches in Marion, Mullins, Myrtle Beach, Conway, Orangeburg and Mount Pleasant. He was a member of the staff of the Discese of South Carolina for many years, where he served as canon pastor. Through the years, he served on many church boards and commisions and represented the Diocese at sessions of the General Convention of the Episcopal Church during the 1940’s, 50’s, and 60’s. A descendant of General Thomas Sumter and Governor John Rutledge, Reverend TIsdale was a member of the Society of Colonial Wars and of The First Families of South Carolina. [1] |
