• Notes

Solomon is thought to have received a grant of 500 acres of Towne Creek, a tributary of Tar River. He later moved to Lancaster District, Claremont County, and later still to the Privateer Section of Sumter County to live near his son Jesse. At some time he married Elizabeth Marley (?) and they had seven sons and three daughters. Some sources list a son Zachariah, but others give him the son of George, judging from birth date. Sons listed are found in records in Edgecombe County, N. C. Only Jesse’s descendants will be covered. For other children see reference. Solomon was indentured 20 Nov 1728 to Rev. John Reade. Solomon was a foster son of a clergyman of England. [1, 2, 4]
