| MILI |
Zachariah was one of the Camden militia who surrendered and were paroled at Charleston in 1780. Later he returned to service and was Quartermaster under General Greene. He felt justified in breaking his parole because, on refusing to guide Major Cochrane of Tarleton’s regiment in his pursuit of Colonel Buford, he was turned out of his house and severely persecuted. In “Historic Camden” many stories are told of his skill and bravery. He was General of militia for many years. [3] |
