| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina JAMES B. HATFIELD James B. "JB" Hatfield, 76, widower of Nancy Hatfield, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at a local nursing facility. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Bernard J. and Carrie McCathern Hatfield. Mr. Hatfield retired from Fort Sheet Metal Works after 44 years of service and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He attended Southside Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Dana G. Hatfield and Janet R. Stiles (Jerry), both of Sumter; a stepson, Hank Rembert (Tiffany) of Sumter; three grandchildren, Colby Hatfield, Jerry Stiles and Jeremy Stiles; two step-grandchildren, Dubose Rembert and Brentston Rembert; and two sisters, Dale Barkley and Norma Timmons, both of Sumter. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman Hatfield and Leroy Hatfield; and one sister, Patricia Hatfield. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Atkinson officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, 106 E.
