| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina James M. Amerson James M. Amerson, 85, husband of Agnes J. Amerson, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at his home. Born in Sumter County, he was a son of the late James Corbett Amerson and Daisy Marian Lowery Amerson. Mr. Amerson was a member of Eastside Baptist Church for 59 years. He was also a member of the Sportsman Hunting Club. He served in the U.S. National Guard and was the owner of Amerson Painting and Sheetrock. Survivors include his wife of Sumter; four children, Cindy Lynch (Alan), James Anthony Amerson (Debra), Vickie Price (Jay) and Ricky Amerson (Annette), all of Sumter; grandchildren, Bobbi Hearrell, James Anthony Amerson Jr., Nikki Follin, Smantha McElveen, Amber Amerson, Austin Amerson, Jayson Price, Swade Amerson and Dalton Amerson; and great-grandchildren, Shelby Hearrell, C.J. Hearrell, Caleb Browder, Alexis Amerson, Isabelle Amerson, and Lucas Follin. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Cornelia Brown and Bardelle Oxendine. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Eastside Baptist Church with the Rev. Pete Mixon and the Rev. Jim Baker officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the men's Sunday school class of Eastside Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church, 701 Boulevard Road, Sumter, SC 29153 or to the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Avenue North, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
