Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Furman William Barfield Sr. and Mary Angela Barfield. He is survived by one brother, Christopher W. Haigler and wife, Linda; uncles, Glenn Riles, Milburn Riles and Johnny Riles; aunt, Evelyn Harris; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Alan Barfield and Douglas Eugene Nesbitt Sr. Services will be held at a later date. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements. FURMAN W. BARFIELD JR.
