BUCKNER Judy Lillian Buckner, 91, widow of Elvin Buckner, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at a local nursing center. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Hodge Lee and Sarah Benenhaley. Mrs. Buckner was a member of Springbank Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Surviving are three sons, Steve R. Buckner, Joey A. Buckner and Mark Buckner, all of Sumter; four daughters, Gussie M. Britnell of Alaska, Helen V. Bartlett of Sumter, E. Ann Dutily of Phoenix, Ariz., and Betty L. Hamrick of Greensboro, N.C.; two brothers, Lynn Benenhaley of Sumter and Bobby Benenhaley of Aiken; two sisters, Kathy Marinko and Jessie Lee Benenhaley, both of Sumter; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Springbank Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Miller and Dr. Robert L. Alderman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter. The family would like to thank the staff of National Healthcare Center for their kind and compassionate care of Mrs. Buckner.
