Dr. JOSEPH N. HODGE NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. - Dr. Joseph Norwood Hodge, 77, Nicholasville, husband of Eva Faye Fitzpatrick Hodge, died Saturday, June 19, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Ky. Born on Jan. 16, 1933, in Sumter, he was the next to youngest of 10 children from the late Arthur and Rebecca Hodge. He moved to Kentucky in 1950 and started his first business in June of 1952. The J. Norwood Hodge Co. was started in June of 1952 and began a tree trimming service. It became Norwood Construction Co. in 1960. About 1997, he started a sister company called Superior Demolition that specialized in bridge removal. Fifty-three years ago, Brother Hodge gave his life to the Lord and lived and worked in His Service. Survivors other than his wife include two daughters, Deborah (William) Ward-Starrett of Starkville, Miss., and Connie (Lillard) Cannon of Lexington; two brothers, Oscar (Doris) Hodge and Morgan (Betty) Hodge of Sumter; four grandchildren, Jonathan (Shannon) Ward, Rebecca Ward, Jennifer (Philip) Watts and Joseph Matthew Ward; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Fitzpatrick Hodge; daughter, Cathy Maye; and son, Norwood Ted Hodge. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, Ky., officiated by Pastor Terry Tuttle, Dr. Tommy Willis and Dr. J. Bennett Collins. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Visitation was held Monday at the funeral home.
