Born May 8, 1932, in Sumter, he was the son of the late Sue Broadway Thomson. Mr. Thomson was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was vice president of construction for Spartan Foods and oversaw the construction of the Spartan Foods Tower in Spartanburg, as well as the Panther's Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. A longtime faithful member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, he served for many years as an usher. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Nenita Wheeler Thomson; a son, Olin (Daniel) Thomson Jr. and his wife, Margaret, of Charlotte; two daughters, Karon Corbin and husband Richard and Sharon MacDonald and husband Harry, all of Spartanburg; three granddaughters, Monica Bradley of Spartanburg and Mary Lawrence Thomson and Suzanna Maris Thomson, both of Charlotte; and a great-grandson, Corbin Bradley of Spartanburg. A visitation was held Tuesday at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. today in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, with the Rev. Dr. Donald J. Wilton, the Rev. Dr. Alastair C. Walker and the Rev. Sal Barone officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, 250 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. An online guest register is available at www.floydmortuary.com.
