GAYLE Posted Tuesday, April 11, 2017 6:00 am SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - Emily Mathis Gayle, age 96, of Sevierville and formerly of Sumter, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Roxie Holladay Mathis; husband, John Hamlin Gayle; and son, John Hamlin Gayle Jr. Emily was the last sibling of seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Roger Fox; sons and daughter-in-law, James Lee and Evelyn Gayle, and Stephen Wayne; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Alice Gayle. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boyd's Creek Baptist Church, 1110 Boyd's Creek Road, Sevierville, TN 37862. Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. today at Atchley's Seymour Chapel with the Rev. Bill Stephens officiating. Graveside service and interment will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in Boyd's Creek Cemetery.
