EDWARD EUGENE DURANT Posted Thursday, March 3, 2022 6:00 am Edward "Eddie" Eugene DuRant, 68, died on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Brookdale Senior Living in Sumter. Born on Oct. 25, 1953, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Eugene Stansill DuRant and Theola Mae Griffin DuRant. He was a graduate of the USC School of Pharmacy. He was formerly employed as a pharmacist for DHEC and retired as a narcotics inspector for the State of South Carolina. Eddie was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He was a longtime member of the Sumter YMCA. He was a loving father and grandfather. Survivors include two sons, James DuRant (Sara) and Robert DuRant (Tabitha), both of Sumter; and four granddaughters, Madison DuRant, Hannah DuRant, Marianna DuRant and Willow DuRant. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Pinewood Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Barnette officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4124 Clemson Blvd., Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621.
