| HIST | of Pinewood, South Carolina of Sumter, South Carolina MACK BARTLETTE III Posted Tuesday, October 10, 2017 6:00 am PINEWOOD - Mack Bartlette III, 46, husband of Margaret Corbett Bartlette, died on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident. Born on Aug. 17, 1971, in Sumter, he was a son of Mack Bartlette, Jr. and the late Lois Bartlette. He is survived by his wife of Pinewood; his father of Sumter; three brothers, Mark Bartlette (Emily), Matthew Bartlette and Mason Bartlette (Maria); a sister, Tina Baker; special friend, Glenn Hodge, all of Sumter; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Lawrence Carrigan officiating. Burial will follow in Paxville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Will Davis, James Wright, Tray DuBose, Jody Duke, Carl Corbett, Glenn Hodge, Caleb Carrigan and Lawrence Carrigan. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Memorials may be made to Crosswell Home for Children, 11 Crosswell Drive, Sumter, SC 29150. Church St., Manning, is in charge of arrangements, (803) 435-2179. www.stephensfuneralhome.org Pinewood man killed in Kershaw County collision Posted Tuesday, October 10, 2017 6:00 am FROM STAFF REPORTS A Pinewood man was killed in Kershaw County on Saturday evening as the result of a two-vehicle collision. According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Matt Southern, a 2004 Pontiac GTO driven by Sammie Anthony was driving northbound on Robinson Town Road and failed to stop at a stop sign at Lockhart Road. Anthony's vehicle struck a 1993 Toyota pickup truck driven by Mack Bartlette III, 46, who was traveling west on Lockhart Road. Southern said Anthony's vehicle struck Bartlette's truck in the driver's side door. Bartlette was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene, Southern said. Anthony was injured and was airlifted to Palmetto Health in Columbia, Southern said. The incident remains under investigation. [1, 3, 4, 5] | |
