| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina Evelyn and Bill lived in North Augusta, South Carolina in 1980 422 Adams Ave., Sumter, South Carolina Evelyn L. Wells Evelyn Avin Lloyd Wells, 82, widow of Fred E. Wells, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Orrie T. Avin and Nora McLeod Avin. Mrs. Wells was a member of First Baptist Church of Sumter and Immanuel Baptist Church in North Augusta. She was a 1946 graduate of Pinewood High School. She served as business manager of WRDW Channel 12 in Augusta, Ga., for 27 years. She was also a Realtor with Meybohm Realty and Blanchard & Calhoun in North Augusta. She was a charter member of the Pilot Club of North Augusta and a member of the Pilot Club of Sumter. She was an avid Braves fan. Surviving are one son, Charlie "Chuck" R. Compton (Angie) of North Augusta; six stepchildren, Norma Lloyd Davis (Bill) of Townville, Rhea Lloyd Rowe (George) of Lake Elsinore, Calif., John W. Lloyd Jr. (Casey) of Moreno Valley, Calif., Patricia Wells Lassiter (Bill) of Newport News, Va., Rosemary Wells Drakeford (Meredith) of Sumter and Rebecca Wells Huffman of Darlington; four sisters, Hilda Glava (Dick) of Klamath Falls, Ore., Juanita McDaniel (Richard) of Sumter and Rosa Lee Griffin and Dianna Geddings, both of Pinewood; three brothers, Wayne Avin (Juanita) of Sumter, Louie Avin (Barbara) of North Augusta and Buford Avin (June) of Pinewood; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and special friends, David and Susan Birgerson and family. She was preceded in death by her husbands, John W. Lloyd and Charlie R. Compton Jr.; a sister, Lela Pritchard; and a brother, O.D. Avin. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Clanton officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home, 422 Adams Ave. Memorials may be made to Project Lifesaver, care of Pilot Club of Sumter, Debbie Jordan, 1070 Boardwalk, Sumter, SC 29150; or to First Baptist Church, P.
