He served as a vice president of the Sumter United Fund, as secretary-treasurer of the Shaw-Sumter Community Concert Association. He was a former director of the S.C. Food Retailers Association and owned and operated a Piggly Wiggly store. He was a member of the S.C. High School Football Officials Association, a former director and president of the Sumter Executive Club, co-founder of Allied Travel Service, and a charter member and former president of the Sumter Gamecock Lions Club. He was a former secretary and president of Post G. Travelers Protective Association and past president and secretary-treasurer of the Cains Mill Club. at death- he had 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews [6] |
