AUGUSTINE, Florida - Eleanor Louise Atkinson 91, left to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023, at Bailey Hospice Center, Saint Augustine, after a brief illness. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, at Evergreen Memorial Park in Sumter, for family only. Eleanor Louise Atkinson May 19, 1931 - January 25, 2023 Photos & Videos Obituary & Service + More Obituary for Eleanor Louise Atkinson Eleanor Louise Atkinson 91, left to be with her Lord on January 25th at the Bailey Hospice Center, Saint Augustine, Florida after a brief illness. Eleanor (Ellie) was predeceased by her grandparents, her mother, Gertrude Atkinson Giddens, her father, Aaron McKenzie Atkinson, her stepfather, Otis O’Neal Giddens, and her brother, Am Atkinson Jr. All of her cousins, aunts and uncles have also passed away. She is survived by her sister, Marilynn Giddens Battell (Roy), her adopted brother, James D Large (Missy) and family. She is also survived by her beloved, nieces and nephew, Jeri Ann McDonald (Stephen), Victoria Lynn Battell (Chris) and John Anthony Coyne (Michelle). Also surviving her, are many great nieces and great nephews that she adored. Last, but not least her extended Battell Family, Kevin Battell (Kelly), Patrice Battell Shumaker (Dallas), Chris Battell (Vickie) and Brian Battell (Julie). Ellie was a member of the crazy ladies lunch bunch that she attended often until she broke her hip and had to go to Moultrie Creek rehab and long care facility. She also received the honor of being the most advanced client of the year of ARC, and was awarded a plaque and flowers in 2010. She was so happy that day. Ellie was loved by everyone she came in contact with and she will be missed. A celebration of her life will be held on February 25, 2023 from 3 to 6 pm, at the NCO Club, 190 San Marco, Saint Augustine, Florida. All who knew her are invited to attend. May she now rest in the heavens with the rest of those who have gone on before her. Burial will take place at a later date in Sumter S.C. where there will be graveside service for family only.
