KELLY Sr. Don Allen Kelly Sr., 49, husband of 27 years to the late Cheryl Anne Bailey Kelly, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005. Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of Joe S. Kelly Sr. and Margaret Garnett Kelly. Mr. Kelly was a 1974 graduate of Sumter High School. He was formerly employed by the Kaydon Corp. and was currently employed by A & P Recycling. He was a member of Home Branch Baptist Church and attended Smithville Evangelical Baptist Church. He was a team member of Kelly's Heroes in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, in honor of his wife, Cheryl. Survivors besides his parents of Sumter include three sons, Don A. "D.J." Kelly Jr. and his wife, Amanda, Joshua S. Kelly and Patrick K. Kelly, all of Sumter; two grandchildren, Zachary Chase Springs and Abigail Gracelyn Kelly; a brother, Joe S. "Joey" Kelly Jr. of Lexington; two sisters, Sara Jo K. Kent and her husband, Kevin, of Pontiac, and Lisa K. Krouse and her husband, Paul, of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Hudson, the Rev. Sim Smith and the Rev. Freddie Gaymon officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Bolden, Doug Allen, Mark Howard, Mike Wilfong, Mike Windham and Lenny Bolden. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Shue, Charlie DeLoache, Tim Burgess and Terry Anderson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son, 2580 Jereco Road, and at the home of his parents, 916 Mathis St. Memorials may be made to the Home Branch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2398 Home Branch Road, Manning, SC 29020 or to the Green Acres Assembly of God Building Fund, 537 Lewis Road, Sumter, SC 29150.   A head-on collision on U. S. 76 on Sunday afternoon claimed the lives of two Sumter residents, authorities said. • Sumter County Coroner Verna Moore said Don Kelly, 49, of 16 Bon View Drive and Donna Thames, 45, of 2665 Thomas Sumter Highway were pronounced dead at the scene following the 2:45 p.m. collision. • South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Josef Robinson said Kelly, driving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle with Thames as his passenger, was traveling east on U. S. 76, about four miles east of Sumter, when he exceeded the 55-mph speed limit and was unable to stop behind other vehicles that were slowing to turn left. • The motorcycle, Robinson said, then skidded into the westbound lanes of U. S. 76 and struck a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am, driven by Russell Alexander, 56, of Timmonsville, head-on. • Authorities said Kelly and Thames were not wearing helmets at the time of the collision. • Russell Alexander and his passenger, Margaret Alexander, 50, also of Timmonsville, were taken by ambulance to Tuomey Regional Medical Center for treatment on non life-threatening injuries following the crash, Robinson said. Both were wearing their seat belts, police said. • Robinson said the crash is under investigation. No other information was available as of late Sunday night. [14]
