| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina GLORIA K. FORD Posted Tuesday, April 18, 2017 6:00 am Gloria King Ford, 82, widow of Herbert Clinton Ford, died on Monday, April 17, 2017, at her home. Born on July 14, 1934, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Gertrude Lowder King. She was a member of Sumter First Church of God. She was formerly employed as a bookkeeper for Alsbrook Furniture Co., as office manager for Sumter Wrecker and H.C. Ford and Son Scrap Metal, as well as a cook at Fat Boys. Mrs. Ford was best known for her cooking and catering. Survivors include two children, Clinton Karl Ford (Valeria) and Wendi Bowman, both of Sumter; three grandchildren, Jessica Lane McGee (Brad), William Chase Goins (Jessica) and Christopher Karl Ford (Amber); four great-grandchildren, Lanie McGee, Peyton McGee, Jace Goins and Brayden Ford; and special family members, Alma Mack and Elaine Byrd. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Sumter First Church of God with the Rev. Ron Bower officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brad McGee, Chase Goins, Chris Ford, Deron McCormick, Gary Mixon and John Wall. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Sumter First Church of God and the Sumter Fire Department. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Sumter First Church of God and other times at the home.
