Merri Warren Straw merri12268@yahoo.com DOROTHY HOLT Dorothy Jane Kennedy Holt, 78, wife of Russell Meredith Holt Jr., died Friday, July 29, 2005, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late James Oscar Kennedy and the late Edna Friar Kennedy. Mrs. Holt was twice married, first to the late Charles Phifer and then to Mr. Russell M. Holt Jr. Mrs. Holt was educated at the University of South Carolina and was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she served on the administrative board, was a Sunday school teacher and Circle leader. Mrs. Holt was a member of the Sumter Art Association, Trian Club, Sumter Garden Club, and a sustaining member of the Junior Welfare League. Surviving are her husband, a daughter, Melanie Holt Brannon and her husband, Barney, of Charlotte, N.C.; a son, Russell Kennedy Holt and his wife, Nancy, of Columbia; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Holt Warren. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stephen Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends in the parlor of the church following the service. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 226 W.
