McLhinney, died on Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born on Jan. 22, 1966, in Sumter, he was a son of Betty Jean Lovelace McLhinney and the late David James McLhinney Sr. He was employed by Conders Construction. He was a hard worker and enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. He loved his family, his country, and his horse, Angel. Survivors include his wife of 21 years; his mother; stepdaughters, April Hill (Ben), Dawn Windham and Amy Strickland (Gene), all of Sumter; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one on the way; a sister, Erica Thomas (Chris) of Alabama; a nephew, Ethan David Thomas; a niece, Kristen Elizabeth Thomas; and his beloved canine companion, Red. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the Bethel Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Sammy Geddings officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of his mother. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
