Mary Ann G. Ford Mary Ann Geddings Ford, 83, widow of Herman Roscoe Ford Sr., died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late John James and Mary Anna Jackson Geddings. Mrs. Ford was a member of Wedgefield Baptist Church her entire life and was the church pianist for 50 years. She was a 1948 graduate of Edmunds High School and a graduate of McLaurin Business School in Sumter. Surviving are her two sons, Ronald Wayne Ford and wife, Nancy, of Bethlehem, Ga., and Herman Roscoe Ford Jr. of Murrells Inlet; two daughters, Kimberly Overstreet and husband, Glenn, of Manning and Mary Ann Stack and husband, Tommy, of Sumter; a half-sister, Mayo Walker of Eastover; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mary Hyatt Ford-Nolan; half-sisters, Eva Geddings, Ruby Geddings Weidenaar and Maize Geddings; and half-brothers, Marvin Geddings, Clyde Geddings, John Geddings, Ray Geddings, Riley Jackson and Marion Jackson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wedgefield Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Goff and the Rev. Dr. Jim Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Wedgefield Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Zachary Boggs, Robert Bexley, T.J. Stack, Dr. Timothy Price, John Price and Todd Price. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Wedgefield Baptist Church, Robert Kelly, Elvin Price, Arthur Simmons, Jon Cain, John Jackson and Robert Turner. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 645 Portsmouth Drive. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Covenant Place and McElveen Manor for the kindness and care they extended to Mrs. Ford and her family. Memorials may be made to The Hyatt Fund in care of Sandhills School, 1500 Hallbrook Drive, Columbia, SC 29209 or Wedgefield Baptist Church, P.O. Box 265, Wedgefield, SC 29168.
