BROGDON Mary Evelyne Nelson Brogdon, 89, wife of the late Ashleigh Brogdon, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2009. The relatives and friends of Mary Evelyne Nelson Brogdon are invited to attend the funeral service at the graveside at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at J Henry Stuhr, Mount Pleasant Chapel from noon until 2 p.m. She was born on March 14, 1920, in Harleyville, the daughter of the late Avery Dewitt Nelson and Cleo Bishop Nelson. Mrs. Brogdon was a graduate of North Charleston High School and attended Rice Business College. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a daughter, Terry, and her husband, E. H. "Andy" Field, of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Gladys Nelson Hughes, of Summerville; two granddaughters, Ashley Field Dukes of Summerville and Caroline Nelson Field of Chicago; a sister-in-law, Joan Brogdon, of Mt. Pleasant, and two great-grandchildren, Brandon Tyler Dukes and Addison Grace Holley. She was predeceased by her brother, A. Donald Nelson. The family wishes to thank all the nurses and caregivers at Savannah Grace in Mt. Pleasant for their concern and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 954, Wilton, NH, 03086-0954.
