Alise was born to the late LeVander and Pearl Steen Rollins, March 3, 1923, in Ruby, South Carolina. She later moved to the Columbia area where she has lived for over seventy years. Mrs. Brooks was married to the late Atwood Brooks for over fifty years. She was a longtime member of Bayview Baptist Church, and was currently a resident at Still Hopes Retirement Home. Alise will be remembered for her generosity and attention to detail. She was quite high maintenance, enjoying the finest quality in jewelry, clothing, and especially hats. She had a flair and style about her, and enjoyed the many colors of life. Although she had a zest for fashion and a feisty disposition, she was a kind and generous person. Many times, she would put the needs of others before herself. Alise Rollins Brooks leaves to cherish her memory, two sisters, Madge R. Stewart of Columbia, SC, and Ethel R. Shumate of Oregon; and she was the beloved “B” to her many special nieces and nephews. She joins in everlasting life her parents, LeVander and Pearl Rollins; her daughter, Linda Carole Brooks previously of Hartsville, SC; her siblings, J.B Rollins, Sr., Leila R. Gulledge, Ruth R. Orr and Dora R. Harshbarger. The family requests that those wishing make memorials to Pets Inc., PO Box 6394, West Columbia, SC 29171 or to the charity of one’s choice. Greenlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home is honored to be assisting Alise’s family with her final arrangements. | |
