Civil War- with Lancaster Invincibles, Company “H” at age of 17 he volunteered for service in the Civil War. Listed as a musician of his company. He died of typhoid fever in Richmond, Virgiia 28 Jun 1862 and was buried there. News of his death came after the youngest brother was born but not before he had written his mother that if he did not get home- to name the baby after him- so he was named Lewis Robert Rollings.
